Girls in India drop out of school due to a lack of clean toilets. As of 2019, 11.5% of India’s rural schools had no separate toilets for girls and of the ones that did, 11.7% were locked and unusable. The lack of proper sanitation facilities affects teenage girls the most as they are forced to miss school for a few days every month. Eventually they fall behind their class, and prefer to drop out completely.
This World Toilet Day, Hindware begins its mission to send them back to school, by helping build toilets in schools.
Starting this World Toilet Day, we’re constructing toilets in 8 villages around our manufacturing unit in Bahadurgarh, Haryana using our special range of coloured water closets. We will continue this journey by tying up with many more schools across the country spreading hygiene empowerment.
